About Me

My photo
Fayette Co, KY, United States
I am a country girl stuck in the city, for the time-being. I enjoy the country way of life, and practice that in my home as best I can by canning and preserving foods, cooking and baking from scratch, crocheting, living vicariously thru the many blogs I follow about country life. I enjoy learning about raising livestock, and glean from my past employment and personal experiences of working with animals to fuel some of my postings. I have 5 cats, who keep my life interesting. And I am also an amateur poet. Thanks for stopping by and checking out this Farmer-gal who is caught in town, for now.

No News . . . And On The Hunt

No news is good news?

I haven't heard from Mr and Mrs W yet to see if I am going to be able to be their renter. I believe I will contact them next Saturday if I don't hear this week, since I need to let my apartment management know soon that I will not be renewing my lease at the end of Sept.

In the mean-time, I am trying to figure out how I will bathe, and how I will do laundry.

I will be on the hunt for one of these for the cabin:

or maybe one of these:

or maybe one of these:
Then I will need to find a gas-powered one of these:
or this one, without the electrical cord, but a gas motor:
Besides getting a good supply of wood, and even more wood, for cooking and heating, I will be on the lookout for these items to make my life a little more simple when/if I move to the Mennonite cabin.

I'll keep you posted on what transpires this week.

Ya'll have a great weekend, what is left of it. Take care, from Fayette Co, the Bluegrass Region of central KY.

I would try to get in touch with them soon too if you are wanting to move there. Especially since there is a lot of preparation you will need to do to move there. I wouldn't know where to purchase a washer like that at all. I almost think a regular tub would be easier to bathe in.

I have to agree with Angela. You have a lot of preparation ahead of you to move into this cabin. Best of luck

Kathy, I do believe the Leeman's catalog would have all the items you are looking for. I wish you well, however, this simple lifestyle is not as easy as it appears. Good luck.

I hope you find out one way or the other soon as I would think there would be a lot of preparation required, especially before winter. Have you read the Daily Coyote by Shreve Stockton? She chronicles about her experience raising a coyote as a pup and does so for some time in a small cabin with very basic necessities. You might gain some insight from her experience. She also has a blog, thedailycoyote(dot)net.

Enjoy your weekend as well ~Andrea~

I understand y'all's concern. But I have a good friend down in Casey Co that I will be living pretty close to, and can go to her place to do laundry and shower. I'll be helping her on her farm in exchange for these things and some produce that we'll be growing. And I have places I can get firewood from that is seasoned, and split, and chunked up. There is a business just south of Liberty that sells firewood by the dump truck for a good price, and the Mennonite couple's son has a sawmill and he sells some of his extras by the pickup load, and he is also close to me in location. So it's not like I'm gonna be down there all by myself without any assistance or help or anyone to rely on for any help that I may need or for advice.

Sounds exciting to me!

I'd let the wash tub do double duty; wash me and clothes, preferably one after the other -grin'. You're going to have to multi-task now, gal friend.
